Donna J. Edmonds, Chairman & CEO
Donna has over 30 years of healthcare experience both as a provider and as an industry executive. She has been a leader in introducing and commercializing products and technologies that have revolutionized patient care. She was Hospital Administrator (Director of Nursing) and General Manager of a specialty physician group. Donna spent eight years with Baxter International where she held Senior Executive positions in Business Development, Sales and Marketing. She also spent many years as a public and private start-up company executive. Donna has served in senior management roles for 10 diagnostic companies including as Senior Vice President, Sales & Market Development for Ischemia Technologies, which was sold to Inverness Medical the precedent company of Alere Diagnostics, recently acquired by Abbott. She remained with Inverness following the acquisition serving as Senior Vice President, Market and Business Development for the Cardiovascular Strategic Business Unit.
Pennina Safer, PhD, Chief Scientific and Technology Officer
General Manager, Israel
Pennina joined ImmunArray in December 2013, bringing significant biotech industry and venture investing experience from both the US and Israel. Pennina spent 14 years at Genetics Institute, one of the first Boston – area based biotechnology companies (acquired by American Home Products, now Wyeth). While at GI, she held a range of positions including Director, Research Technology Acquisition. She obtained additional operating experience as VP R&D at CBD Technologies, now a wholly owned subsidiary of Futura Gene PLC (LSE:FGN). Pennina’s venture investing experience comes primarily as a Partner at Medica Venture Partners, a leading Israeli based Life Science Venture firm which she joined in 2002. Pennina received her PhD in Human Genetics from Yale University, and did a post-doctoral fellowship at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology.
Steve Wallace, MBA, Chief Operating Officer
Global Supply Chain Management
Steve joined ImmunArray in January 2013 bringing more than 30 years of R&D and operations experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical industries to ImmunArray. His expertise in small molecule and recombinant protein drug development includes process development, manufacturing, quality regulatory submissions, strategic planning and financial analysis. At Insmed, he successfully led the processes leading to the regulatory submission and FDA approval of rhIGF-I/rhIGFBP-3. At Boehringer Ingelheim and Hoechst Celanese, he developed, optimized and implemented growth strategies resulting in more than $50,000,000 in annual cost savings and new business. Steve holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology and a MBA from The College of William and Mary.
Nathan Hunt, VP of Quality & Regulatory and Market Manager Neurological Diseases
Nathan has over 20+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance and Project Management with medical devices, in-vitro diagnostics, pharmaceutical and biologics products. During this time, Nathan has lead multiple organizations in the domestic and international clearance and expansion of product lines. Prior to joining ImmunArray USA, Inc. in June 2016, Nathan held the position of Sr. Director of Quality and Compliance at a medical device start-up organization.
Bill Kaluza, CFO
Bill is a results-oriented financial executive with more than 35 years of financial, operational, and legal experience at private and public companies. He has a long track record of business successes, exceptional negotiation skills, and a broad base of financial/operational/legal talents, spanning several industries, including software, medical devices, and internet based enterprises. He holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with majors in Accounting, Finance and Information Technology and a J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law of Pennsylvania State University with a concentration in Corporate Law.
Prior to joining ImmunArray in 2017, Bill served as CFO for a medical devices company and as CFO for a software company that provided FDA-compliant intellectual property management solutions to the pharmaceutical industry. Previously, he co-founded a software company that provided supply chain management solutions to process manufacturing companies, including Fortune 500 companies in the pharmaceutical industry, eventually taking that company and another company public.
Gail Howerton, VP of Finance
Richard Atkinson, MD, Medical Director, VERACIS
Richard joined ImmunArray in March 2015. He holds an MD from the Medical College of Virginia and completed internal medicine residency and fellowship training in Endocrinology-Metabolism at UCLA Harbor General Hospital, Torrance, California and at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He is currently Emeritus Professor of Medicine and Nutritional Sciences, University of Wisconsin, Madison; Clinical Professor of Pathology, Virginia Commonwealth University; and Visiting Professor of Molecular Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. In 2004, Richard founded Obetech, a biotechnology company that markets diagnostic tests for viruses that cause obesity and complications of the disease and has served as President since its founding. Dr. Atkinson has published more than 175 manuscripts and more than 200 abstracts in the medical literature and has been a consultant to over 30 companies and non-profit foundations.
Michael Petruny, MS, VP of Sales and Marketing
Michael Petruny has more than 25 years of experience in the life sciences industry with both pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies and as a consultant. In particular, he has held such industry positions as Vice President in a leading marketing consulting firm; National Sales Director at Astellas where he had oversight for a best in class transplant product, and guided expansion of the sales force, while also implementing its first sales management team; Vice President of Sales at Cylex, a venture capital backed firm in which sales were increased seven fold during his tenure; and General Manager of Olerup, Inc. where he revamped the organizational infrastructure and operations, while doubling sales and realigning the sales force. Mr. Petruny also served as an Executive in Residence for an emerging company with a high technology veterinary product, where he helped guide the organization through regulatory and compliance requirements, while also identifying and developing relationships with key industry stakeholders. Mike holds an undergraduate degree in Economics, and a Master’s Degree in Marketing from Louisiana State University. He has published numerous peer reviewed abstracts and conducted background research in preparation for the publication of two sales and marketing textbooks.
